Winter is the perfect time to embrace the outdoors, and skating trails are a fantastic way to embrace the season, get some exercise and make unforgettable memories with your family. Whether you’re a seasoned skater or are just lacing up for the first time, skating on trails offers a unique experience beyond the traditional rink.
SIMCOE COUNTY SKATING TRAILS TO EXPLORE:
Innisfil Town Square Skating Trail - Innisfil Town Square
A 240-metre trail looping through the Town Square, this trail is free to access and is open throughout the winter season (weather dependent). Check the trail’s status before you go!
Skate Trail - Simcoe County Museum
This hidden gem opens in early January. The 1.2km trail leads through the Museum’s heritage buildings and forest pathways. Admission to the skate trail ranges from $6.00-$10.00 (kids under 3 are free) and includes admission to the museum.
Creemore Village Green - The Village Square in Creemore
Don’t miss out - this urban experience in the beautiful town of Creemore is only available until January 3rd!
JUST OUTSIDE OF SIMCOE COUNTY:
Woodview Mountain Top Skating - The Blue Mountains
A 1.1km trail with beautiful views of the Niagara Escarpment. This two-hour experience is great for all skill levels, and skate rentals are available.
Arrowhead Provincial Park - Huntsville
This iconic 1.3km trail has been named as one of the Top 50 Canadian Winter Experiences by Flight Network and has been names one of 19 Stunning Natural Ice Skating Rinks Around the World by Travel+Leisure. Saturdays are busiest and often reach capacity, so visit Sunday or midweek to avoid disappointment.
